Oral Cancer Screenings
You may not think of your dentist when you hear the words “cancer screening”
but it is projected that more than 30,000 Americans will receive an oral cancer diagnosis this year. The good news is that if found early, oral cancer is 90% curable. During your dental hygiene exam, the doctor and his team of hygienists perform routine oral cancer screenings by inspecting the patients tongue, floor and roof of the mouth, and all oral tissue inside the mouth. If the screening warrants additional evaluation, our team will discuss the next steps we should take.
